Wire Rope Loop Lifters
Maximize economy and safety with our Galvanized Wire Rope Loop Lifters. Conveniently packaged and color tagged for easy identification. Our loop lifters are the ideal solution for numerous precast concrete applications.
Carefully manufactured and rigorously tested you can be sure of the highest quality. Load ratings have been determined by independent certified testing and established in compliance with OSHA 1926.704 (c), which requires a minimum safety factor of four to one.
American Step Wire Rope Loop Lifters will meet listed load rating values only when properly installed by the concrete structure manufacturer in properly reinforced structures and per the minimum embedment depth listed.
Pulling / Lifting Irons
American Step Pulling/Lifting Irons have many uses for lifting or as pulling anchor points when properly installed in steel reinforced concrete structures. They are manufactured at our facility in Griffin, Georgia of 1/2 inch steel cable meeting ASTM A 416, 7 Wire, 270 Grade.
American Step Pulling/Lifting Irons meet the following values only when properly installed by the concrete structure manufacturer. The 2 haunches of the pulling/lifting iron must be securely tied under the reinforcement of the structure and placed at the minimum required embedment depth as listed. The following load ratings are set in accordance With OSHA 1926.704 (c) which requires a safety factor of four to one.
Precautionary note (pulling/lifting Irons):
Use in non-reinforced concrete can cause tensile failure of the concrete above the haunches of the pulling/lifting iron and is specifically not recommended. Improper installation can result in serious injury or death. The waste block lifters and septic tank lifters (with their great embedment depth) are specifically designed and tested to work in non- reinforced concrete. All American Step pulling lifting irons including waste block lifters and septic tank lifters are made for 100% domestic USA steel.
Solid Loop Lifters
American Step Company pioneered the patented solid loop lifters. This lifter is used in the same manner as the wire rope loop lifter. One simply floats the lifter into the concrete to the required depth. All load ratings are based upon no steel reinforcement except for the ¾” and the one inch sizes. The advantages of the solid loop lifters over the wire rope loop lifters, whether ours or another company’s, are reduced corrosion potential due to the solid steel instead of numerous small wires and that the lifters are powder epoxy coated per ASTM A 934 which we believe is a better means to protect against corrosion than by galvanizing. We have solid loop lifters load rated from 3,500 pounds to 17,750 pounds in 4,000 PSI concrete.
All American Step lifter load ratings are based upon stringent testing by a professional engineer at an independent laboratory. In addition, a professional engineer from a consulting engineering company who specializes in concrete reviews those test reports and certifies the load ratings along with minimum edge distances and load ratings at various angles of lift. Load testing and engineering reviews are available upon request. OSHA 1926.704 ( c ) requires a safety factor of four to one from point of failure, our load ratings are based upon such.
The solid loop lifters are made of domestic USA steel and the parts are made and coated in the American Step manufacturing facility located in state of Georgia, USA.
Utility Anchors
American Step Utility Anchors are made of domestic USA made A36 steel. Our utility anchors are made and coated in the American Step manufacturing facility in the state of Georgia, USA. The American Step utility anchors are powder epoxy coated which we believe is a better way to protect against corrosion than by galvanizing. The American Step utility anchors are load rated from 875 pounds to 25,000 pounds in 4,000 PSI concrete.

Tension and shear load ratings are available for nearly all utility lifters. Most load ratings are based upon testing being done in 4,000 PSI concrete without steel reinforcement.
The American Step utility anchors are available with wire clips for attaching to the cage reinforcement. We can custom fabricate the wire clips and their location on the lifter to fit your individual needs, and since we do it here in Georgia USA, we do not have to wait for months on the ship to arrive from China.
